Alchemy Studio is a New York interior design practice founded by Stephanie Schroeder, working across private residences, multifamily developments, and commercial interiors. Trained as an architect, Schroeder designs from the structure outward and specifies materials for how they will age: unlacquered brass, patinated bronze, stone with a history. Every decision is resolved, and within that discipline, one element is allowed to break the pattern. Polished, never predictable.

Trained as an architect, she approaches each project through structure, proportion, and materiality rather than decoration. Her graduate thesis on phenomenology, the relationship between the physical environment and the body, continues to inform her work, where material is never merely surface. It should alter the way a room is experienced.

Since founding Alchemy Studio in 2017, Schroeder has developed a distinctive language of tactile, evolving materials: oxidizing metals, stone that develops a rich patina with use, and plaster that preserves the hand of its making. She favors spaces that acquire character over time, revealing the traces of a life well lived rather than remaining pristine.

Her New York practice spans large-scale residential developments and highly considered private homes. The scale and budget may change; the rigor does not. Every element is deliberate, every detail resolved, with just enough tension to keep restraint from becoming predictable.

Raised in Wyoming, Schroeder grew up skiing, horseback riding, hunting, farming, and learning to build things herself. That early fluency with landscape, material, and craft remains an essential counterpoint to her architectural discipline, and a reason her interiors never feel too polite
